NBC's iconic weekly variety show "Saturday Night Live" is celebrating its 50th season this year. We've been celebrating the show for several years now by posting a classic SNL holiday sketch every Saturday from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day. If nothing else, this exercise has clearly established the vital role SNL has played in shaping popular culture over the past half century. This year's final SNL Holiday Flashback one comes a little late for the 2024 holiday shopping season, but it's never too early to start planning for next year . . .
This post is going to be the last of the 2024 holiday season. The coming 12 months will undoubtedly challenge us as never before. A good number of people with very unsavory ideas are about to claim positions of awesome power. Let's hope not all of it will go to their heads. Let's hope the Spirit of Christmas so many of them profess to cherish will temper their ambition with at least a dallop of respect for the true teachings of Christ. God bless us, every one.
